Yeast Intolerance Symptoms

We’ve all heard that some people are lactose intolerant which means the inability to digest lactose which is a sugar found in dairy products.  But what is becoming more and more prevalent are people noticing that they suffer from yeast intolerance symptoms, which is a little bit harder to diagnose because the symptoms might be harder to pinpoint the exact cause.  There are in fact direct symptoms correlated to the abundance of yeast in your system.  Some of the symptoms are more severe than others but nevertheless, they are symptoms which should be treated as quickly as possible to avoid further complications and not turn a small problem into a bigger one.

Yeast intolerance means that their body’s over produce candida.  Candida is a group of yeast-like fungi that lives in moist areas of the body, including the mouth, intestines and vagina.  Everyone has candida in their body, but in normal circumstances, it is kept in check by the good bacteria in our bodies.  When there is an overabundance of yeast, the infected person suffers from yeast intolerance and a disease called candidiasis or thrush.

There are a few causes of candidiasis.  Many cases of candidiasis are caused by the food that we eat.  Some folks who develop intolerance to candida will have to really watch the kinds of foods they are ingesting on a daily basis.  So our diet is one of the first places to start to relieve some of the symptoms of candidiasis.  The fungi thrives on foods like simple sugars, breads, moldy food (like cheese), fermented foods (like alcohol), and foods that contain vinegar (like mayonnaise, pickled foods, mustard, and barbeque sauce).  Sugary foods are frequent culprits and it doesn’t help when our bodies crave those types of foods like cookies, chocolate, soft drinks and maple syrup.

Another thing can cause candidiasis is antibiotics.  Helpful bacteria within the body can also be killed off by antibiotics causing the fungus grows rapidly as well.

The culprit to many health failures and diseases, and in this case, yeast intolerance symptoms, is stress.  You guessed it, stress can cause candida.  High stress levels might be associated with poor nutrition and lack of exercise.  It is very important to try to keep stress levels under control. I know, easier said than done.  Taking the time to add exercise in your life might be the first step to lowering stress.  Exercise usually produces endorphins that make you feel better and feel like you can conquer everything!  When a person is under stress and they have a poor diet on top of that, it can lead to a weakened immune system.  That weakened immune system can trigger candida and an imbalance of yeast in your body, making it difficult for the body to cope with the toxins that the excess yeast produces.

If someone suffers from yeast intolerance and does not eliminate these foods, they might suffer from bloating excess gas, diarrhea, and headaches. Yeast infections in the mouth and in the vagina are also associated with yeast intolerance.

It is recommended that if you suffer from yeast intolerance symptoms,  that avoiding yeast for a period of three to six weeks to give the body time to eliminate the toxins.  Reintroducing low levels of yeast back into the body after that time is ok to do, but the imbalance might reoccur.  Introducing foods with yeast slowly at a steady rate might be the best thing to do so that you can pinpoint some of the foods that might be causing more trouble than others.

The great part about yeast intolerance is that once you begin to eliminate the foods that are causing you the symptoms, your body and health will be much better. You do not have to deprive yourself of all foods that contain yeast forever.  It will be a temporary thing.  If you have that in mind and have the goal in your head that you are doing your body good, than you can conquer anything and your friends will be happy for you as well as probably jealous because you will be looking great and living healthy!!
