Any type of diet a person goes on takes will power and discipline. Whether you are cutting out only a couple of things from your diet, or going to an extreme like cutting all things with yeast out of your diet, it still takes will power, no matter what anyone says. When choosing to go on a candida free diet, it will be a challenge but you will be glad you will be making this change in your life, especially if you suffer from the symptoms of an abundance of yeast in your body. The great part about a yeast free diet is that you know exactly what foods are ok to eat and which ones are not. You also must get into the habits of reading labels on packages and learn the different terminology to sugars and other yeast products. For review again, foods that contain yeast are: mostly all cheese (except that feta cheese is ok to eat, so you can go to town on feta cheese), sugars, fermented foods, breads (pretzels, rolls, bagels, pastries, cookies), foods that contain vinegar (mayonnaise, salad dressing, barbecue sauce, mustard, or pickles).
A good candida free diet will contain three basic and simple items such as meat, vegetables, and a small amount of complex carbohydrate. There are meat products that you can get that don’t have antibiotics in them. Antibiotics are one of the causes of yeast overgrowth. Believe it or not, beef cattle are normally injected with antibiotics! No, not because the cows are sick, but this is done to “beef up” them meat. So guess what, if the cow is given antibiotics and you eat the end product of that cow – you are ingesting the antibiotics! Go to a natural health food store if you would like to find meats with no antibiotics whatsoever – that’s your best bet! When finding meats with no antibiotics, you can eat ground buffalo, ground, turkey, ground beef, beef patties, chicken patties, chicken breast, chicken thighs, turkey patties, chicken patties etc. Of the three simple ingredients, meat should be the largest portion of your meal. Fish is good too as well as sardines and tuna salad. Avoid dried, smoked or pickled meats and cured bacon.
Try to eat at least four to five times throughout the day because spreading out meals will help keep your blood sugar and hunger under control. This might also be a slight change to your lifestyle; I know it was for mine. You can enjoy snacks between meals, but the right snacks. You may eat things like raw veggies (carrots, broccoli, asparagus, celery), nuts (but not peanuts or pistachios because they contain yeast). The added fresh vegetables to your diet will also help to clear out the dead and dying yeast cells as well as their mycotoxins from your body…..and that is a really good thing!
Unfortunately, changing your snacking habits might be challenging, but it is for a good cause! Avoid chocolate, maple syrup, soft drinks, soda, alcohol, and honey. Your body will thank you if once you are on a clear path of a yeast free diet. It might take some getting used to, but like everything you give up and change in your life, nothing comes easy and everything takes work. If you are in control, you will be on the road to recovery to living a healthy life and symptom free if you suffer from the overgrowth of yeast.
