A person would want to incorporate a yeast free diet into their life for a variety of reasons. Some people are yeast intolerant and actually need to eliminate yeast from their life in order to live a life to inhibit the overgrowth of Candida yeast within their body. Others might want to elimate yeast from their diets because of weight issues. People might find it hard to lose weight and the simple solution might be to eliminate all or some yeast from the food they eat everyday. Lastly, others might be experiencing health problems like aches and pains, or yeast infections (both woman and men) and again, eliminating the intake of yeast might cure these health issues.
Before you think you have to throw out everything in your kitchen, let’s review some of the foods that contain yeast. Remember, removing yeast from your diet will put you on the path to living a very healthy life and will do wonders for some of the negative things that yeast is doing to your body, which is your temple.
So what are some foods that contain yeast? The obvious, anything with bread usually contain yeast like rolls, pretzels, pastries, and cookies. Other foods that contain yeast include are moldy foods like cheese, cured bacon, some nuts (like pistachios and peanuts), mushrooms, smoked, dried and picked meats. Additional foods that are “moldy” are pre-packaged herbs, soy sauce, canned tomatoes, and malt.
Foods that contain vinegar should be avoided because they are very high in yeast like salad dressing, pickles, pickled food, mayonnaise, mustard and barbeque sauce. Foods that are fermented should also be taken out of your diet (mostly alcohol, like wine, beer, and spirits).
Now we are on to foods for our sweet tooth……sugary foods. Foods that contain sugar like soft drinks, chocolate, candy, honey, and maple syrup should be avoided. Stay away from fruits that are high in sugar like prunes, dates, grapes, raisins, dried fruits, and citrus fruits. Processed sugars like including granulated, confectioners, and brown sugar should be avoided as well.
Work on eliminating most of these foods and over the course of three to six weeks, there will be a huge drop off of yeast in your system. During this time, you will start to get used to your new way of living and you will feel much healthier than you did before. If your goal is to lose weight, you may even see the pounds start to come off. Some people that don’t have a problem with yeast in their bodies (no negative reactions) often eliminate it to purge the body of toxins. That is what you are doing when you begin your quest to start to decrease or eliminate your yeast intake.
During these first weeks of the elimination process, the body will be dumping yeast toxins in the intestinal tracts which can cause flu-like fatigue, irritability and weakness, but rest assured that the body will naturally rebound from these symptoms. Continue to avoid yeast for the entire length of the diet (about six weeks) to prevent yeast problems from reoccurring in the body. After a six week time period, you can gradually incorporate small amounts of yeast back in your diet. Don’t add too many different foods back at once. You will want to monitor your body after you start ingesting yeast to try to pinpoint what is causing your symptoms if you have any associated with the intake of yeast. This will tell you what foods you will want to stay away from for longer periods of time. Review the list of foods above: sugary products, bread products, moldy foods and vinegary foods are the ones you want to try to avoid. There are many foods that you can turn to that will literally turn your life around!
